What exactly is Invisalign?

Invisalign treatment involves a series of clear aligner trays that are worn during the day and night. These trays are clear in nature and virtually invisible to the naked eye. The aligners work by forcing pressure on all of the teeth, creating a more symmetrical, even smile. Invisalign are ideal for older teens and adults who want orthodontic treatment without all of the metal brackets and wires involved.

Why would you need Invisalign?

You may need Invisalign because you’ve been told that you would benefit from orthodontic treatment. You may even choose Invisalign if you’ve already had orthodontic work done as a child or teen but never maintained the results. Some of the different conditions that Invisalign can help treat include:

  • Overcrowding
  • Crooked, misaligned teeth
  • Malocclusion problems (open bite, overbite, under bite)

What are the benefits of choosing Invisalign?

Invisalign is completely clear and does not require the use of metal wires and brackets. For this reason, it’s suitable for teens and adults who want the benefits of orthodontics without the need for bulky metal appliances. Invisalign works quickly and can provide results in as little as six months. The aligners are completely removable so that you can take them out for special events and parties.

What is the procedure like for Invisalign treatment?

You will first come into our office for a full Invisalign consultation. The consult involves an exam, impressions and series of x-rays which will all be used to create a personalized treatment plan. The impressions are used to create your new clear aligner trays. You will need to wear these trays for at least 22 hours each day and it is important you remove them to brush and floss your teeth. You’ll need to come back into the office after a few weeks to have more impressions made and new aligners created. It is important to wear your aligners regularly so that treatment is quick and effective.

If you’re interested in Invisalign either for your own benefit or a child’s, call our office and we can schedule an appointment for you to have a consultation.
