Meet Dr. Robert Rutner
Dr. Robert Rutner received his undergraduate and graduate degrees with Honors in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis. He graduated Cum Laude from Georgetown University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Rutner was the CEO of Serra Park Dental Group, the premier multispecialty practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. He pioneered dental marketing in the 1980’s and 90’s—consulting and becoming an owner of 1-800-DENTIST (The most successful dental marketing company of all time).
He mentors emerging entrepreneurs and funds technology based companies largely in healthcare and social media. Dr. Rutner funded Schick Technology, the first digital radiography company that developed sensors for intraoral dental imaging.
He has been an active board member or consultant assisting several of the companies to go public or be sold (Puma, Invisalign, Pete’s Wicked Ale, Alien Golf, Beyond Dental).
He has lectured internationally in restorative, implantology, orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Rutner was President of Invisalign, Asia and Australia, from inception where he trained and certified doctors in the US, Asia and Australia.
He is a speaker for Dentsply (the world’s largest dental company) and the Dean of Education of the FADE RDAEF2 program. He has been recognized as one of “Americas Top Dentists” by Consumers’ Research Council of America. Dr. Rutner was the Chief Clinical Officer for One Smile Silicon Valley and the President of Biodent, the makers of the Ultratooth tooth replacement system.
Dr. Rutner finished the Oregon Maxi course in implantology certified by the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and is a Diplomat of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. His practice consists of surgery, advanced implant therapies and treatment. Dr. Rutner trains and mentors doctors in private practice settings internationally on practice management, surgical techniques, beginning and advanced implant therapies.
Dr. Rutner enjoys spending time with his 5 children, playing golf and tending to his small organic farm where he raises vegetables, rabbits and chickens.

As a former class president during his dental school years, Dr. Rutner brings natural leadership skills to his practice. With a focus on exceptional patient care, he has gained valuable experience working with dental service organizations (DSOs) in the Bay Area and now provides his expertise at Sierra Tahoe Dental. Driven by a collaborative approach, he emphasizes open communication and joint goal-setting with his patients to ensure optimal outcomes.
Dr. Rutner stays at the forefront of dental advancements by integrating cutting-edge technologies into his practice. An active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), he continually seeks opportunities for professional development to provide his patients with the most advanced and effective dental treatments available.
Beyond dentistry, Dr. Rutner actively engages in community service. He organized a remarkable free dentistry day in the Bay Area, providing over $400,000 worth of dental care to those in need. In his personal life, he enjoys golfing, supporting local sports teams, and spending quality time with his wife and their golden retriever.
